Acanthite

The sulfide of money Ag2S presents into two polymorphic:

* acanthite , monoclinical, Group of space P 21/ N

* argentite , cubic, Group of space Im \ bar {3} m

The transition between the two polymorphic is with 179° C.

Properties

Ag < sub > 2 S.A. a hydrothermal genesis of Temperature low and average. Argentite is often associated with the “red moneys” (Proustite + Pyrargyrite) and with the lic money Métal and can Co-grow with the Galène in “siver-bearing crystals”.

The acanthite is presented normally in the form of a Pseudomorphose of acanthite on argentite.

One reported the existence of a phase of Température even higher (Ag2S-I).
