Academy of the specialized vegetable collections

The Conservatoire of the specialized vegetable collections (CCVS) is a French Association, created in 1992, which was given for mission of preserving plant species by the culture, so as to fight against the disappearance of many species and varieties of the national and world inheritance botanical and horticultural.

It grants, after evaluation, and payment of a contribution, its label with two types of collections:

  • national collection CCVS: collection of national interest which reaches a level of excellence, in particular by the whole of let us tax represented;
  • approved collection CCVS: collection which still deserves to grow rich or which must improve its management and guarantee its perenniality.

The CCVS publishes a quarterly review, Hommes and plants , which publishes in particular reports on the existing vegetable collections both in France and abroad. It also publishes a directory of the updated labellized collections each year. It also organizes botanical voyages. Its president is the ex-conservative of the Jardins of Luxembourg of the Senate, Jean-Christmas Burte.

The CCVS counts approximately 300 members. Its seat is located at Paris, 84 rue de Grenelle (7th district).
