The Academy of the humanities, sciences and arts of La Rochelle was born from the official transformation into 1732 of the Royal Académie of the humanities of the La Rochelle.
At the time of the French revolution, the Academy is dissolved and the collections are confiscated and dispersed. It is reconstituted in 1853.
