Academy of technologies

The Académie of technologies is a Learned society French of which the goal is “to inform the Company on the best use of technologies”. Subjected to L.328-1 articles in L.328-3 of the Code of research and to the decree 2006-1533 of the December 6th 2006, it has the statute of national public corporation related to administration.

It was founded in 2000, taking the continuation of the Council of the applications of the Academy of Science (CADAS). In January 2007, it became a public corporation, under the terms of the Loi of program for research of 2006.

It consists of 200 active members (number which can be carried to 250) designated by co-optation, as well as highly skilled members and foreign members, reinforced by a domestic network and a global area network of experts.

Its objective is to provide a scientific report and technique, and to allow the debate on technology, by aiming three public: public authorities, companies and the Civil society. The change of status gives to these functions a mission of public service. It is thus expressly in charge of a role of council of the French government.

The Academy meets in assembly to adopt the opinions and the annual report, like proceeding to the votes of co-optation. The office consists of a president, a vice-president and an acting general elected, as well as outgoing president. The academic council, which plays also the part of Board of directors, includes/understands in addition to the members of the office, five members of the assembly indicated within her authorities (sections) and seven members elected by the general meeting. The academic council and, in certain cases, the office, ensure the management of the Academy.

The Academy of technologies is member of Euro-BOX and CAETS, of the international associations.

It is currently chaired by François Guinot.
