Founded in 1835, the Conservatoire of music of Geneva is historically the first large academy of music Suisse. It was rested by the financier and patron François Bartholoni.

The academy gathers two schools. The EM (music school) is intended to the not-professionals. The HEM (high music school) is intended to the pupil musicians wishing to make career.

This academy is a foundation of private law. It is subsidized by the Department of the state education of the Canton of Geneva, like by the Town of Geneva.
