The Académie of Gundishapur (also known under the names of Jondishapoor, Jondishapur, Jondishapour, Gondeshapur, Gondê Shâpûr, Jund-e Shapur, Jundê-Shâpûr, etc) was the intellectual center of the empire Sassanide. The academy offered courses in Médecine, Philosophie, Théologie and Science. The professors were scholars of the traditions Perse and zoroastrienne as well as knowledge Greek and Indian. According to The Cambridge History off Iran , it was the most important medical center of the old world, i.e. of Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East, during the Life and VIIe centuries.

It was founded in 271 by the king Shapur Ier. It is oldest Hôpital of known teaching. It included/understood also a Bibliothèque and a Université. It was located in the current province of the Khuzestan, in the south-west of the Iran, close to the river Karoun.
