In France, a academic institute of technology (in summary " IUT") of some French universities is a component. The academic institutes of technology were created in 1966.
According to the decree of November 12th, 1984, the academic institutes of technology exempt in initial training and continues an higher education intended to prepare with the functions of technical and professional framing in certain sectors of the production, the applied research and the services.
There exist 115 IUT on all the French territory.
Formation
The vocation first of the IUT is to prepare in 2 years the students with the University degree of technology.However, the IUT also propose the preparation of a professional License in one year after a University degree of technology, two years of license, a preparatory class or a Advanced vocational diploma.
They make it possible also to continue long studies (Business schools or Engineers, general licenses, IUP, etc). Indeed the continuation of study after HAD is encouraged more and more since the Réforme LMD, which resulted in installing dies differentiated within the second year to the IUT.
