Academic institute of France

The Academic institute of France (IUF) is a service French Ministère charged with the Higher education whose mission is the development of high level research in the universities. The purpose of it is also to encourage the young researchers.

The Institute is created by Décret the August 26th 1991. It is about an organization without walls whose members remain in their own universities (two thirds at least of the members of the IUF belong to universities apart from Paris).

The IUF is composed of two types of members, all teacher-researchers, professors or university lecturers, posts some in a French university:

  • the members seniors
  • the members juniors (old of less than 40 years).
Moreover, approximately ten foreign professors can be invited each year.

The members are elected for one five years duration (nonrenewable for the juniors).

  • They are placed in position of delegation at the IUF, but remain in their university of membership
  • They profit from a reduction of the 2/3 of their statutory service of teaching.
  • Of the specific research appropriations is versed each year at their team or their laboratory.
  • Of the average materials (office and meeting rooms) is placed at their disposal with the seat of the IUF.
  • a management report their is required of semi-course and at the conclusion of the 5 years of their delegation.
  • the members of the IUF must contribute to the local, national and international radiation scientific in a concern deliberated on interdisciplinarity.
