Abû Ya' qûb Yûsuf (abū yaʿqūb yūsuf Ben ʿabd Al-mūʾmin, rear RTL أبويعقوبيوسفبنعبدالمؤمن), died towards 1184. It is the second Caliph Almohade. It reigned with Marrakech. Succeeding his father `Abd Al-Mu' min, he was initially recognized like sovereign with Seville (1163) then in Marrakech. Cultivated sovereign, supported on a rupture with religious orthodoxy, Abu Yuqub Yusuf is sometimes called the “intellectual caliph” (Pierre Guichard).

History

Initially founded on a religious ideology the Almohade dynasty then became a hereditary dynasty with the profit of the family of `Abd Al-Mu' min. The viziers are generally sheiks Hafsides, sparing a kind of division of the capacity between the two groups Berbère S.

Abû Ya' qûb Yûsuf takes again the war against the Christians of Andalusia, carried out by Ibn Mardanîch.
