Absorbed Worlds

the absorbed Worlds is a Televised series of French Animation in 52 26 minutes episodes, created by Nina Wolmark and diffused starting from the September 17th 1985 on Antenne 2 in the emission Récré A2 . In Quebec, the series was diffused on TQS.

Synopsis

Since great cataclysm, Arkadiens lived blottis in the center of the Earth. They had very forgotten of their past. Thus had wanted it their ancestors. Until the day when them sun, Shagma, fell sick. Then the children of Arkadia dared to enter the prohibited museum. They found there some traces of the past, but any plan of Shagma. Then the children created, then sent towards the surface of the Earth their messenger, Arkana.

Characters

Arkana : created by the children of Arkadia with some stones and the rays of the arc in sky shagmic, “with feet”, “with the image of people of the top”, magician benevolent but naive, able to project illusions. She must ask people of the top of the assistance to repair Shagma.

Biro and Bac : two merry small animals, of the Pangolin S cherishing, skilful, funny and enjoués companions, able to produce fire together by rubbing their noses. It is noted that they do not have claws.

Bob and Rebecca : two children of the top, which benefitted from a fault in the space time to accompany the heroes, under the pretext of know the secrecies of Shagma, with a reassuring behavior of spectator.

Spartakus : young man former recently escaped slave of a circus of gladiators of the one of the layers. Armed with a magic crossbow to its fist, it fredonne often music of his/her father. Delivered at the time of one of the very first adventures, it accompanies Arkana throughout the history.

“punk” pirates and Radio FIP, the Radio of the Federation Inter Piracy : under an appearance sympathetic nerve and enjouée although pathetically malevolent, they represent an unhappy company, forces, aggressive, uncultivated, slave, excessively materialist, alive in a discharge. This company is structured under an appearance of democracy controlled by the media of mass. “I show Maxagaz not to know to plunder! ” The “gigue of the pirates” is an animated song which returns to each intervention of Massmédia, the copious speaker of Radio FIP. “Without faith nor law, Ah beautiful life that here! ” “On your heads one makes money! frac is made! ” (with some blows of clubs…).

Shag-Shag : the robot intelligent exploring vessel slept in the prohibited museum. It made it possible to the children of Arkadia clandestinely to reach it. It resembles a giant tortoise vaguely. Its computer-brain, going back to before great cataclysm, has lapseen of memory. The shagies are a multitude small robots of maintenance and repair. Shag-Shag has an interface of communication/energy dedicated to the species to which Bic and Vat belongbelong, and an encyclopedic culture of last times and layers. He claims to be impatient to turn over in his museum once its mission towards surface will be finished. But the adventures follow one another in the mazes of the layers.

Arkadia and Arkadiens

Arkadia : absorbed city, placed at the center Earth, lit, supplied with Shagma, interior sun. Architecture resembles that of Athens, Shagma being placed in the place of the amphitheater. The place of the Orichalch is similar to the democratic forum. The Orichalch (the gold of Atlantis) is a tuning fork with two branches, dominated by one threatening black plate.

Arkadiens : such of the angels, they do not have a foot and float freely in Arkadia (absence of physically correct gravity, at least). They are unaware of very of their past, and their dialectical is dual, with very careful men and impulsive women.

Comments

In this work, whose scenario was written by Nina Wolmark, a psychologist of work born in 1941 with Minsk, one is in the presence of a speech in matter often oneiric, vague, with a symbolism potentially freudien. Would the layers and the characters of the absorbed worlds be only elements of unconscious psychic individual or collective? It was for many children of the Années 1980 one of the introductions in cartoon to the reflexive speech on the socio-psycho-history, the introduction of the doubt about the borders of introspection, and a very dense sum of behavioral models and comprehension of the human reports/ratios from the point of view individual, family, political, historical total, of a mythical past (Atlantis) until space exploration by our own descendants, obliged to flee our own sun dying in five billion years, or beyond the mystery of death.

Music

All the musics of this series were composed by Vladimir Cosma. The topics of the pirates and Biro and Bac are interpreted by the group Ministars.

Works to be compared

The history of a civilization which fights effectively for its spiritual survival by culture, seduction, historical empathy and psychic illusions vis-a-vis the physical invasion, materialist, concretes the Land ones carried by their atomic rockets.
