Abramelin the Magician
Abramelin , known as the Magus or the Magician , was a Jew of Würzburg (Bavaria, Germany). Deceased in 1460, it would have been born in 1362, which gives him a 98 years life!
Abramelin was an expert of the Kabbale. It was abundantly inspired some besides to compose of many books of Magie, which will have much later a great influence on Aleister Crowley and Alexander Sanders.
Abramelin claimed to hold its knowledge of the angels, which would have taught him the manner of calling upon and of controlling the demons. He also claimed to have helped, by magic, the Électeur of Saxony Frederic to the combat, but also the count of Warwick at the time of his escape, as well as the Antipape Jean XXIII (1410-1415) at the time of the Concile of Constancy.
Magic of Abramelin
The magic art of Abramelin resembles much the practices which one can meet in the Clavicles of Solomon . This magic rests primarily on the capacity of the numbers and the crowned names. In addition, each ritual practice must rigorously conform to the astrological observations .
“ crowned magic of Abramelin the Magus ”
the crowned magic of Abramelin the Magus (or the Magician ) is a French manuscript, composed of three volumes which are with the library of the Arsenal, in Paris. This work, that some regard as being a forgery forged at the 18th century, passes to be the translation of a black book, written in Hebrew and going back to 1438, in which Abramelin would have consigned all its magic knowledge. These texts will reappear in 1899, having been the subject of a new translation by the British magician McGregor Mathers. Aleister Crowley, disciple of the precedent, will be inspired thereafter by the work of its former Master to compose some of his ritual.
