Abraham Leon

Born Abraham Wejnstock with Warsaw in 1918, Abraham Leon emigrates quickly towards the Belgium. Initially militant of the organization Zionist of left Hachomer Hatzaïr, it becomes leading Belgian branch of this movement. He breaks with this one because of his support for the Procès of Moscow and becomes Trotskiste at the beginning of the Second world war.

With Ernest Mandel, Abraham Leon is one of the principal executives which then rebuild the Belgian section of the Fourth International, decimated by the arrest of its principal leader Leon Lesoil. It is then one of the main characters of the reinstallation of the European Secretariat trotskist. Abraham Leon is in particular the writer of the theses entitled the tasks of IVe Internationale in Europe .

It is as at that time as he writes the Jewish Question , which analyzes the Jewish people like people-class, exploited and persecuted in particular because of the interdict opposed by the Christian to the loan to interest until the Concile of Thirty, in 1431. In its work, written before 1943, Abraham Leon compare the Sionisme with the European nationalisms (thus racist), while showing that it constitutes the “last phase of capitalism starting to rot”. He thus regards the Zionism as the result of the contemporary evolution of the Capitalisme, and a movement of middle-class inspiration . Its premonitory analyzes are very often quoted by the opponents with the colonization of the Palestine. the Jewish Question was then republished on several occasions under the title '' Conception materialist of the Jewish question ''.

In June 1944, Leon is stopped by the Nazi S with Charleroi. It will not return from Auschwitz.
