Sidi Ahmed Al-Tidjani (1737-1815) (in Arab سيديأحمدالتجاني) (Sīdī 'Aḥmad At-Tijānī), usually called Sidi Ahmed (“Holy Ahmed”), is the founder of the Confrérie soufie of the Tidjane S.
Born in 1737 in Ain Maadi in current the Wilaya de Laghouat in Algeria, Al-Tidjani studies the Islamic lesson in Algeria and Egypt and integrates several brotherhoods soufies. Announcing to have had an awaited appearance of the prophet Mohammed, is formed around him an increasingly large Tariqa , brotherhood which thereafter will bear her name.
Ahmed Al-Tidjani dies with Fez (current Morocco) in 1815. Its lesson will continue after its death to spread itself and to have a very broad audience in West Africa (Senegal, Nigeria, Niger, and Mauritania), grace in particular to the voyages of the conqueror Toucouleurs Oumar Tall, and scientists Wolofs like El-Hadji Malick Sy and the Sheik Ibrahim Niass.
