Abortion

The abortion is defined as the interruption before its term of the process of Gestation, i.e. the development which starts with the Conception with the Fécondation of an ovule with a spermatozoon forming a egg thus, continues with the growth of the Embryon, then Fœtus, and which is completed normally in the long term by the Naissance of a new individual of the species.

One speaks about abortion for all the species Vivipares. By extension, the term is also used by metaphor to indicate the failure of an unspecified development process, without relationship with the Procréation (abortion of a Clerc's Office, of a project).

IVG is at the human being, beyond of a physiological phenomenon concerning the expectant mother and the embryo or the fetus which it carries, a social phenomenon, concerning the family unit and the company in their values morals. For this reason, there is nothing astonishing that it is prone to from a legal point of view controversy as well as religious and philosophical. The debate is especially sharp, because what constitutes one of the worst crimes for the ones (murder of an innocent being and without defense) represents a right for the others (free provision of its body, for the woman).

Terminology

  • the abortion can be spontaneous: one speaks about miscarriage. The medical term of miscarriage applies whatever the term of the pregnancy of the first day of the pregnancy until the medical assumption of responsibility of the fetus. Before 12 weeks of amenorrhoea it is an early miscarriage and after this period it is about a late miscarriage (the majority of fertilized eggs are not viable under normal conditions and are eliminated very quickly by the organization).
  • the pregnancy can be stopped voluntarily without medical reason one speaks then about Voluntary interruption of pregnancy or IVG. In France, the abortion perhaps practiced only before the 12th week of pregnancy, i.e. 14 weeks after the beginning of the last rules.
  • Enfin the pregnancy can be stopped for medical reasons holding either with the fetus or with the expectant mother. One speaks in this case about medical or therapeutic interruption about pregnancy or IMG.

Abortive plants

The Hysope is regarded as abortive, just like with strong amount the Sauge, the street or the Armoise.
