Abol Fath Khan

Abol Fath Khan Zand (approx. 1755 - 1787), was the third Shah of the Dynastie Zand. It reigned on the empire Perse of the March 6th 1779 with the August 22nd 1779.

After the death of Karim Khan in 1779, it named Co-monarchs of Iran the wire of this last, the junior Abol Fath Khan, who were also his son-in-law and Mohammad Ali Khan, the groin. Contrary to his/her father, Abol Fath was weak and lazy, and not having the courage of his/her father, rested on his uncle, Zaki Khan, whose corruption and the bad political judgment were known of all. The councils and opinions of Zaki Khan brought anarchy in the territories of the empire during the 20 years which followed.

After the death of Karim Khan Zand, Aga Muhammad Khan which had been retained as an hostage --in order to prevent a war enters the tribes Qajar of the north of the Iran and Zand-- escaped and gained the Mazandaran. It took the head of its tribe with Astrabad and declared its independence of the Zand Shah. At this time, Zaki Khân put its nephew, Ali Murad Khan, with the head of the Perse army in order to go to fight against the Qajar lord.

Zaki Khan gave the command of the Persian army to Ali Murâd Khân to destroy the tribes Qajar in north, but it betrays Abol Fath Khan and left it without defense in the capital so that it is made kill by Sadeq Khan. Ali Murad captured then Esfahan. He raised strong taxes and tortured and killed those which refused to pay. Finally, the March 14th 1781, it captured Shiraz and killed Muhammad Sadeq Khan in order to sit down on the throne. It reigned then until in 1785 when it was reversed by the son of Muhammad Sadeq, Jafar.

The June 19th 1779, Abol Fath became the only Master of Iran, following the sudden death of Mohammad Ali Khan. It was then notified to him that the commander of the army, Ali Murâd Khân had rebelled against him and had taken Esfahan. On another side, Zaki Khân raised strong taxes and punished of dead those which refused to pay. People of Esfahan rebelled and killed Zaki Khân. The August 22nd 1779, Muhammad Sadeq Khan, a brother of Karim Khan taken Shiraz and killed Abol Fath Khan after him to have torn off the eyes of its orbits. Muhammad Sadeq Khan then proclaimed King de Perse.
