Abitibi-west (provincial district)
The provincial electoral constituency of Abitibi-West is located in the area of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue (Quebec). The current deputy is François Gendron, of the Parti Québécois, elected with the Québécois general election of 2007.
History

The electoral constituency of Abitibi-Was creates at the same time as that of Abitibi-West in 1944. These two districts were formed by the abolition of the old electoral district of Abitibi, itself created in 1922. The district will change in 1972 and in 1980 and thereafter its limits will be slightly modified in 1985 and 2001.
