Abitibi-Is

The provincial electoral constituency of Abitibi-Is is located in the area of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue (Quebec). The current deputy is Alexis Wawanoloath, of the Parti Québécois, elected with the Québécois general election of 2007.

History

Preceded by: Abitibi

The electoral constituency of Abitibi-Was creates at the same time as that of Abitibi-West in 1944. These two districts were formed by the abolition of the old electoral district of Abitibi, itself created in 1922. The district will change in 1972 and thereafter its limities will be slightly modified in 1980, 1992 and 2001.

Territory and limits

In 2007, the Superficie of Abitibi-Was of 30474 km2 and its population of: 32921 voters.
