Abigail Williams

Abigail Williams (circa 1681 -??), niece of the reverend Samuel Parris, played a significant part in the business of the Sorcières of Salem and constitutes a central figure of the part of Arthur Miller, The Crucible .
Though this part is based on the true facts of the Procès of the witches of Salem, it is not for as much not entirely exact from a historical point of view. To accentuate the dramatic tension, Arthur Miller made of Abigail Williams an older character. In the part, it is indeed approximately 18 years old and has a connection with John Proctor, which is seen renovating, him also, of about thirty years. True Abigail was only 11 years old and lived with more than 18 km of the farm of Proctor: very significant distance at the time, making any connection almost impossible.
