Abhay Ashtekar (born on July 5th, 1949) is an Indian physicist. He achieved his course of student with a license in India. He studied under the supervision of Robert Geroch at the university of Chicago, receiving his doctorate. in 1974 (thesis: " asymptotic structure of the field of gravity ad infinitum spatial"). He is professor with Eberly in physics and the director of the institute for the physics of gravity and the geometry at the university of the State of Pennsylvania. As a creator of the variables of Ashtekar, it is one of the founders of the quantum gravitation of loop.

Scientific popularizer, it also wrote a certain number of descriptions of the quantum gravitation of loop accessible to the not-physicists.
