Abelardo Luz

Abelardo Luz is a city Brésil ienne west of the State of Santa Catarina.

Geography

Abelardo Luz is located by a Latitude of 26º 33 ' 53" south and by a Longitude of 52º 19 ' 42" west, with a Altitude of 760 meters.

Its population was of: 16374 inhabitants with the census of 2007. The municipality extends on 955 km ².

The city is to 574 km in the west of the capital of the State, Florianópolis. It belongs to the Microrégion de Xanxerê, in the mésorégion Western of Santa Catarina. The municipality is accessible by the BR-282 (to Santa Catarina) or by the BR-280 (with the Paraná), both tarred.

It is located in the Serra Geral, in the catchment areas of the rivers Chapecó and Chapecozinho.

The annual average temperature is of 18,7°C. The city knows hot summers and marked enough winters. The Precipitations (: 1930 mm annual) are equitably distributed throughout the year.

IDH of the city was of 0,785 in 2000 (UNDP).

History

Required passage towards the colony of Xanxerê at the beginning of the 20th century, not of rest on the road of the missions for the soldiers and the Tropeiro S, Abelardo Luz is first of all populated by immigrants come from the Minas Gerais. At the time, the area is inhabited by Indians guarani S and Kaingang S, which still lives in some zones of the area. In 1922, the locality becomes district of Chapecó, under the name of Abelardo Luz, according to the name of the son of Hercílio Luz, then governor of the Santa Catarina. In 1958, it becomes independent municipality. In 1982 and 1992, the municipalities of Ipuaçu and Ouro Verde are successively émancipées of Abelardo Luz.

Economy

The principal economic activities of the city are the Agriculture and the breeding, but the Commerce and the Tourisme develop strongly at present.

The economy was formerly based on the exploitation of the local vegetable resources (Bois and Yerba subdued), but these last yield more and more space to the farm. The city is in particular large producing of Maïs and Soja.

The principal tourist point of the municipality is the parks das Quedas C Rio Chapecó (" park of the Falls of Rio Chapecó" , in French), together of 7 cascades on the Rio Chapecó and of 3 others on Rio das Éguas. One also finds there a river Plage long of more than one kilometers and 7 small islands. Largest - the island of the flowers ( Ilha das Flora in Portuguese). Located at 2 km of the city and covering 200 ha (including 40 ha dedicated to tourism), the park receives thousands of visitors each year, especially during the summer.

Historical heritage

In the parks das Quedas C Rio Chapecó is a Grotte, the cave Caracol , hidden behind a cascades, famous to have sheltered more than 100 soldiers during the federalistic Révolution of 1883.

Culture

The city counts two centers of conservation of the traditions “Gaúchas” and accommodates a popular festival of music and Sertão, the FEMPAL, considered as one of best of the south of the country. The Feverfest (German typical festival) and the Festsoja - agricultural exposure , commercial Industry lle and which celebrates the culture of the Soja - attract many visitors every year. One can also quote the Canto das Águas , a municipal contest of song and the Abertura de Verão .
