Abel Nguéndé Goumba (born the September 18th 1926, with Grimari, prefecture of the Ouaka) is a Central African politician , former Prime Minister twice and former vice-president of the Central African Republic of the December 12th 2003 mid-March 2005.

It begins its political career during French colonization , reaching the post of vice-president of the council between 1957 and 1958 before becoming president of the council, then Prime Minister in 1959 after the accidental death of Barthélemy Boganda. The day before independence, it loses of its influence to the profit of David Dacko. Goumba leaves in exile to France in 1960, at the time of the independence of the country.

It returned in RCA to beginning of the year 80 to continue its political career. It was presented to five recoveries with the presidential election, and carried out its best score during that of 1993 at the time which it obtained more than 20% of the voices to the first turn. It was beaten with the second turn by Angel-Felix Patassé. Goumba was opposed periodically to the president Angel-Felix Patassé without never managing to gather the opposition under its name.

Goumba is named Prime Minister the March 23rd 2003, after the coup d'etat of the March 15th of the general François Bozize who évince Patassé. The December 12th 2003, it reaches the function of vice-president named by the president Bozize. It is replaced by Célestin Gaombalet at the post of Prime Minister.

Abel Goumba was candidate with the presidential election of the March 13rd 2005 and receives only 2,5% of the voices there. Shortly after the first turn, president Bozize dislocates Goumba of the vice-presidency and abolishes this function at the time of the foundation of the Life Republic.

The March 12th 2006, Abel Goumba yielded the head of its party, the patriotic Front for progress (FP), with his/her son Alexandre (49 years), director of the operations in Commercial Bank of Central Africa (CBCA), which was elected by acclamation of the militants to the presidency of the central committee of the party, at the end of an extraordinary general assembly.

Abel Goumba is doctor of medicine, aggregate of medicine of public health.
