Abelès guilder
Guilder Abelès (1922-2005), French physicist.
Born in Galatz in Romania, it leaves qualified engineer the University of optics in 1947. It supports its thesis for the science doctorate in 1949 front the Faculty of Science of Paris ( Recherches on the sinusoidal electromagnetic wave propagation in the laminated mediums. Application to the thin layers ). He becomes then researcher of CNRS then university lecturer to the Faculty of Science of the university of Paris then full professor with personal capacity in January 1965. He founds in 1952 the group of optics of the solids at the Institute of optics theoretical and applied (SupOptique) before taking the direction of the Laboratory of optics of the solids at the Paris-VI University of 1974 to 1985.
Recognized internationally for its discoveries in optics, in particular in the field of the thin layers and ellipsometry, it founds in 1969 the international review “Optics Communications”, of which he will be editor association until 1993.
