Abdoulaye Yerodia Ndombasi

Abdoulaye Yerodia Ndombasi or often Abdoulaye Yerodia (January 5th 1933 -) is one of the four vice-presidents of the Transition government of the Democratic republic of Congo. It was indicated by the government of Kinshasa (mobility PPRD) at the end of the Accords of Pretoria, while the three others represent the various sensitivities of the armed opposition (RCD, MLC) or democratic.

This Congolese of Senegalese father, was companion of Che Guevara and friend of In-lay Chou, Paris IEN during 20 years (in particular with the Residence hall Jean Zay of Antony), and one of the closest supports of Laurent Désiré Kabila since the fight for independence at the time of Patrice Lumumba, with the whole beginning of the Années 1960, during the revolution of 1964-65 with Che, until the come to power with Kinshasa in 1997 after having Mobutu and its supports élyséens demolishes.

In 1998 Yerodia Ndombasi held of the very virulent speeches which encouraged the populations Congo leashes has to exterminate the Tutsi. Several hundreds of people (of Tutsi and others show to support rebels) were killed, often with a great cruelty, by combatants, but also by civilians influenced by the speeches of Yerodia: a great number of killed people knew the " torment of the collier" (an ignited tire passed around the neck of the victim). According to the remarks of a witness of the massacres, Yerodia:

" spoke about tutsi and held of the very virulent remarks, by saying that we were vermin, microbes which were needed éradiquer with method. With through the windows D the embassy, I saw that raids continued in the street. On television, one saw the corpses of people calcined around which a tire had been placed. Others were thrown in the Congo river.

Under the influence of the speeches of Yerodia and other speeches quite as virulent, one concealed at least 500 people has Kinshasa. A young civilian of the district of Masina would have declared on August 27th with a journalist of Radio France Internationale (RFI): " It is the population. They were not the soldiers. They is ourselves, it is we who burned the tutsi. Us, when we see a tutsi - myself, when I see one of them, I burn it… " .

Also Kisangani in 1998 of the civilians has killed out of Tutsi and others which one showed to support the rebels. Moreover the same city knew again great massacres in May 2002.

Yerodia was then shown war crimes and crimes against humanity in Belgium. However the business was abandoned because of a decision of the International penal court which estimated that as a Foreign Minister in exercise, Yerodia could not be continued in justice by the courts of a third country.

Continuous Yerodia has to hold of the heinous speeches; in May 2006, during the presidential campaign, during a gathering of support for Joseph Kabila in the town of Gummed, in the East of the country, it threatened Tutsi in the following way: “If you do not turn over on your premise, one will put to you sticks in making sure behind that you leave. ”. It is not a question here of the inoffensive words; during recent atrocities made in the Area of the Big lakes (in Rwanda in 1994, but also in Congo-Kinshasa during the Hema-Lendu conflict in Ituri), part of victims (of the men and women) were impaled (as for Rwanda - for example C. Taylor, " Farming The Face off Terror in the Rwandan Genocide off 1994" , in: " Annihilating Difference: The Anthropology off Genocide" , under dir it. from Alexander Hinton, University off California Near, 2002; as for the atrocities made in Ituri - for example E. Grizwold, " One the trail off the Congo' cannibal rebels'").
