Abdou Diouf

Abdou Diouf (1935 -) is a Politician Senegal board, old Prime Minister and successor of Léopold Sédar Senghor with the Presidency of the Republic. He is currently General secretary of the International organization of the Francophonie.
Biography
Born the September 7th 1935 with Louga, it makes its primary and secondary studies with Saint Louis. It begins from the studies of right to Dakar, to continue them with Paris and becomes graduate National school of France of Overseas (ENFOM) in 1960.It occupies at once of high administrative offices in Senegal, to become Principal private secretary of President Senghor in 1963, then general secretary of the presidency of the republic in 1964. He became then Minister for the Plan and the Industry of 1968 to 1970, then was named Prime Minister in February 1970.
He became President of the republic of the Senegal on January 1st, 1981, following the resignation of Senghor, and was renewed in his functions at the time of the elections of 1983, 1988 and 1993.
Its various mandates were placed under the sign of the deepening of the Démocratie, initiated by its predecessor, on the progressive Libéralisation of the economy and on the Décentralisation.
It contributed also to make hear the voice of the Senegal in the world, through the participation in very many international tops, and fought for a greater African unit .
At the interior level, it had to face the economic crisis of the Années 1980 which generated many frustrations, and its re-election of 1988 is animated.
Abdou Diouf was beaten with the second round of the presidential election of March 19th, 2000, leaving its place to Abdoulaye Wade. It resides since then in France with his Elisabeth wife.
October 20th, 2002, he is elected general secretary of the International organization of the Francophonie, succeeding the Egyptian Boutros Boutros-Ghali. He is renewed unanimously at this station at the time of XIe Sommet of the Francophonie to Bucharest in 2006.
In May 2006, it undergoes a body search on its arrival with the Canada, an diplomatic incident which caused a deep movement in the relations with the Senegal. Josée Verner, minister in the government of Stephen To grip, declares that no meeting was finally provided with Diouf and that excuses are thus not necessary.
In 2007, Abdou Diouf was decorated with the title of Honorary doctor of the Université Jean Monnet of Saint-Etienne.
