Abdelmalek Benhabylès

Abdelmalek Benhabylès (1921--) is a politician Algérie N. It is of 1989 to 1995 president of the Algerian Constitutional council.

Biography

Abdelmalek Benhabylès was born on April 27th 1921 with Arbaoun in current the Wilaya de Sétif. It is one of the founders of the Algerian popular party PPP.
Membre of the Movement for the triumph of the democratic liberties (MTLD), it engages in the independence fight with the national Front of release (FLN) during the Guerre of Algeria. After independence, it becomes in 1963 General secretary of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs until 1964, when it is named as ambassador of Algeria to the Japan then in Tunisia.

In 1971, Abdelmalek Benhabylès is recalled in Algeria, is appointed general secretary of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, then Ministre for Justice in 1977. The president Chadli Bendjedid names it in 1979 general secretary of the Presidency. Then in 1989, It chairs the Constitutional council his creation. After the dismissal of president Chadli Bendjedid, the military command gives him the provisional load of the executive power from January 11th to 14th 1992. April 12th, 1995, its completed mandate, it is replaced at the position of president of the Constitutional council by Said Bouchair.
