Abdallah Ier of Jordan

Abdullah ibn Hussein , 1882 - 1951, born with Mecque, was emir of Transjordanie of 1921 to 1946, then King of Jordan of 1946 until its death. Wire of Hussein ibn Ali, Sherif of Mecque and king of the Hedjaz, which was one of the promoters of the Arab Révolte of 1916 against the Turks. His/her son Talal succeeds to him.

In 1921, he becomes emir of Transjordanie, then under British mandate.
In 1946, it is proclaimed king de Jordanie at the time of the accession of this territory to independence. The purpose of its policy was the formation of a great Arab State including Jordan, the Syria, the Iraq and part of the Palestine.

In 1948, it took part in the coalition of the Arab States to prevent the creation of Israel lately proclaimed. The Arab States lost the war but Jordan gained there Western bank of the Jordan (the West Bank). In 1949, the fastening of the West Bank (literally “left bank of the Jordan”) Palestinian to the kingdom caused a violent opposition on behalf of the Palestinian nationalists, who made assassinate Abdullah ibn Hussein in July 1951 with Jerusalem.
