Abdülhamid Ier
Abdülhamid Ier (born the March 20th 1725 with Constantinople - died the April 7th 1789 in the same city) was sultan of the Ottoman Empire January 21st 1774 with the April 7th 1789.
Biography
August 1st Abdülhamid Ier succeeds Mustafa III, his/her older brother (sultan of 1757 with 1774). It could not fight against the expansionism of the Russia which, by the treaty of Kutchuk-Kaïnardji (1774) removed several provinces to him and ensured Russia of many advantages in Black Sea. In 1783, it lost moreover the the Crimea; in 1788, Potemkine took Ochakiv to him.
