Abbey of Saint-Michel
The abbey of Saint-Michel is a Abbaye bénédictine located at Saint-Michel, in the Aisne. The first vault was founded in 693 on the initiative of Ursmer. The current abbey unit, which includes/understands the church, the Cloître and of the additional buildings, dates from the 10th century. The abbey knew, since its creation, various rebuildings. The Nave and the frontage of the church, rebuilt at the 16th century, are of style Baroque. The Transept and the chorus, to Gothic style , go back from the end of the 12th century.
The church shelters moreover since 1714 a remarkable Orgue, the historical organ of Jean Boizard, classified historic building in 1950. According to the researcher Alain Gigot, the church had been classified as of 1837 and had been registered with the additional inventory of the historic buildings in 1927.
