Abbey of Noirlac

The Abbaye of Noirlac was built in 1136, thanks to the donation of Ebb VI of Charenton, by an small group of Moine S come from the Abbaye of Clairvaux (Burgundy). It names then House-God and will not take the name of Noirlac (because of the pond which bordered it) only in 1290. It is today a place of memory and a true reference of the heritage cistercian.
It is the witness of one of the most fertile episodes of the history of the monks who built the Occident.

Symbol of the ideal diffused by saint Bernard de Clairvaux at the 12th century in more than 700 cistercians abbeys in Europe, it appears today among the monastic units best preserved under the impulse of the general advice of the Cher.

Modern stained glasses were carried out by the French artist Jean-Pierre Raynaud.
