Abbey of Gruchet-le-Valasse

The abbey of Gruchet-le-Valasse in Seine-Maritime, is located between Lillebonne and Bolbec, in the Canton of Bolbec.

Description

This splendid Cistercian abbey was built at the 12th century. She was destroyed at the 15th century by the English, then rebuilt out of stones of the career of Valasse. With the French revolution, it was confiscated with the Church and became residence lady of the manor. She is since 1985 the property of the commune of Gruchet-le-Valasse.

The site would have, in spring 2008, to accommodate a park for becoming it of our planet: Eana ground of possible the. This park wants to be a place of single, individual and collective experimentation. Its main mission is to sensitize and inform on the great stakes planetary, as well environmental, as social, economic and cultural, and to consolidate the general public with the practical application of a certain number of recommendations and concrete actions.

Original and innovative, founded concept on the exchange, the play and the emotional one, the future park is intended to receive 110.000 visitors per annum. Its target public is the general public and particularly the young people. Its budget amounts to 22,6 M€ HT.

This site near the estuary of the Seine and the industrial site of Port-Jerome - of a surface of 60 hectares, the Abbey of Valasse shelters, around which new buildings will be dedicated to the reception of the public and the exposures, as well as courses and gardens of experiments, where the speeches last/present/future will be woven.
