Abbey of Bubbles

The abbey of Nivelles was founded towards 640 by the widow of Pépin of Landen, Itta. Gertrude (626 - 659), their daughter was the first abbess. His/her niece, Vulfetrude, girl of Grimoald Ier, succeeded to him of 659 with 669.

The site was excavated in 1941 and 1953.
