Abbey of Boulaur
The abbey of Boulaur is a founded Prieuré in 1142, depend on the Abbaye of Fontevraud. The monastery draws its name from Latin Bonus Locus , the Good Place, and gave its name to the village of Boulaur which was called before Saint Germier, of the name of a bishop of Toulouse which évangélisa the area.
The church, Romance in its base, includes/understands three spans of Voûte S Gothics and two Renaissance spans. Frescos of the 14th century cover the vaults of the chorus and the following span. Inside, the cloister is 17th century and shelters the statue of a Virgin to the Child dated fine 13th century - beginning 14th century, found under a tiling and baptized the " Beautiful Dame" of Boulaur. The monastery was restored in 1949 by moniales of the Ordre cistercian) which live of a small farm whose products are processed and sold on the spot. Religious offices in Gregorian chant rythment their day of prayer, work and hospitality, according to the charisma of the Rule of Saint Benoit. The community in full expansion has undertaken to give again life with the abbey of Rieunette, deserted for several centuries.
