Abbey Notre-Dame de Triors
The abbey Notre-Dame de Triors is a Benedictine abbey of the Congrégation of Solesmes located at Châtillon-Saint-Jean in Drome.
It was founded in 1984 with Châtillon-Saint-Jean by monks come from the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Fontgombault. The fourteen monks settles in a castle of the XVIIIe century which is bequeathed to them by the last owner. Great work starts starting from the beginning of the year 1990 to transform the priory into true Benedictine abbey. The abbey one is dedicated with the Immaculate Conception in 1996.
The Prieuré of Triors is set up in Abbaye in 1994 and the first abbot of Triors, dom Coureau, receives the blessing of the bishop of Valence this same year.
Belonging to the congregation of Solesmes, the abbey kept the liturgical traditions Gregorian and since 1984 benefitted from the indult towards the rite of Saint Pie V. It for this reason depends on the pontifical Commission “Ecclesia Dei” since 1988. The abbey is carrying out a complete Gregorian discography of the whole of the temporal cycle of the catholic liturgical Calendrier. The abbey counts forty monks today; the Abbot is Dom Herve Courau.
