Abano Term

Abano Terme (Àbano pronunciation) is a common in the Province of Padoue in Venezia in Italy.

Geography

Abano Terme is with the foot of the hills euganéennes.

Abano Terme is in a volcanic zone, now inactive, with 10km in the south-west of Padoue.

History

Abano Terme is known since the Roman epoch and the presence of ruins in the zone confirms the importance which the place was to have at that time.

One makes go up the origin of the name with Aponus, the god of thermal springs.

Monuments

The city comprises two centers: the historical center and the tourist center. In the historical center, there is Duomo de San Lorenzo with a bell-tower built at two different times: the natural brick base is of 900 and the upper part of 1200.

In the tourist part, is Pinoteca de Montirone in which, although the collection is not presented in entirety, one can see the Bassi collection, with works of artists of the 18th Venetian century.

Just outside Abano the monastery of San Daniele is.

The main activity comes from thermal tourism. Water of Abano is known since Antiquity.

Water spouts out at a temperature of approximately 90°. It bromo-is iodized, contains chlorine and sodium. It comes from the Alps and has an underground course starting from Poggio di Montirone.
