Abalone (play)

Abalone (in English, the prefix “ in ab- ” means “never”, and “ in alone ” means “only”), is a combinative Strategy game abstracted where clash two players. The play gained the Gold Goblet to the Concours of creators of plays of Boulogne-Billancourt in 1988 under the name of Sumito . As of the following year, the play was published.

General principle

A player plays with white balls, the other with black balls. The goal of the play is to be the first to make leave 6 unfavourable balls the plan of play by pushing them with its own balls.

Material and installation

  • the apron of play is a Hexagone bored of 61 circles supporting the balls. The apron is sometimes called hexagonal or plate .
  • Each player has 14 balls which are placed at the beginning according to the position indicated in the rules.

Course of the part

The player having the black balls starts.

In turn the players move 1,2 or 3 balls of a movement towards close boxes. Displacement can be done on line or laterally.
