Abakan (river)
The Abakan (in Russian Абака́н ), whose name means in language khakasse " blood of ours" , is a river of the South of the Siberia in Russia of Asia. This left affluent of the Ienisseï 514 km is long and has a basin of a surface of 32.000 km ². It crosses the territories of the République of Khakassie and the area of Krasnoyarsk.
It is created by the junction of the small Abakan and the large Abakan in the mountains of Saïan of the West. It moves towards north is and reached the town of Abakan or it is thrown in the lake of reserve of the Barrage of Krasnoïarsk fed in addition by Ienisseï.
Its flow close to Rai' kov is in January of 57,7 m ³ /sec (1989) and in May, with the snow melt, of 874 m ³ /sec. Little before its junction with Abakan the Ienisseï has a flow close to Podsinije in January of 377 m ³ /sec (1963) and in May of 1780 m ³ /sec.
Abakan is used for the transport of wood and the irrigation.
