Ababdehs

Ababdehs is Arab wandering people which traverse the desert between the Vallée of the Nile and the Red Sea. They sell mainly charcoal containing acacia. Their origin is dubious. Some think that they go down from people which the Romans knew under the name of Blemmyes but Wilhelm Peter Eduard Simon Rüppell affirmed that they go down from people of Ethiopian origin installed in the area of Méroé. In 1851, when they were described, their habits were similar to those of the Bedouin .
