Comment
Put aside the dialogs (Michel Audiard), this film shows especially the nonsense of the situations which are created during a war, and which this one does not regulate. The antimilitarism of film is its discussion thread, and the exchanges between the officers and the troupiers, the French and the German, are finally impressed kind of friendship which puts them all equal vis-a-vis the war and its devastations.Lino Ventura and Charles Aznavour is surrounded by three supporting roles also good actors. To know which finally will carry it, of the German or the French, remains always also delicious to see: this door-close in full desert will be really a revelation for these men.
In the course of road, they learned how to know each other and end up fraternizing.
Anecdote
According to Pierre Bellemare, a taxi for Tobrouk would be the strongly modified version of a real history of two Danish and German soldiers being lost at the time of a continuation in Greenland in 1943 then having made the way of return, with half-deaths, together.
