a door over the summer (original title: The Door into Summer ) is a Romance of Science-fiction of Robert A. Heinlein published in the the United States in 1956 and France in 1958.

Synopsis

The Petronius cat the Wise one, when the weather is, with the practice to ask its Master successively to open all the doors of the house to him. He passes then from one part to the other, taking an air more and more disgusted, persuaded that with fine its Master will finish by him opening a door giving on beautiful the temps.
When the Master of Petronius, Daniel Boone Davis, loses his company of manufacture of robots because of a treason of its promised in marriage helped by his best friend, it also puts him in the search of “the door over the summer”. It finds it thanks to a new technology, “the long sleep”, which enables him to remain in hibernation during about thirty year. It leaves behind him the cat Petronius and a little girl, named Ricky, to which it dedicates a great affection. With its alarm clock, it finds Ricky and Petronius, also present in this future distance.
