ATMEA

ATMEA is a joint-venture created with equal shares by AREVA and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) for the development, marketing, the certification and the sale of a new model of Nuclear reactor baptized ATMEA 1.

The joint venture is based in Paris. Its executive director is Stefan vom Scheidt (originating in AREVA) and Makoto Kanda (of MHI) is its assistant.

ATMEA 1

ATMEA 1 is the name of the model of common engine developed jointly by AREVA and MHI. It is about a Pressurized water reactor with 3 loops, whose electric output will be of approximately 1100 MW. This engine, of third generation, will integrate the criteria the most recent adoptees by AREVA and MHI as regards safety, of respect of the environment and effectiveness.

This engine is intended for specific markets, in particular the countries whose network does not allow the connection of more powerful engines, like the engine EPR of AREVA.
