ASP World Turn

The World Championship Tour (WCT) organized by the Association of the professional surfers (ASP) is the championship of the world bringing together the best professional surfers. It consists of a series of 10 tests for the men and 7 for the women, divided on the whole of the sphere (Australia, Chile, South Africa, Fiji, Tahiti, France, Spain, Brésil, Hawaii and the United States).

Unfolding

The championship generally takes place between the months of February and December. The classification is carried out thanks to a system of points acquired by the surfers with each test. For the men, only the 8 best handles are entered, and 6 the best for the women. The surfer who has the most point at the conclusion of the last stage, the Rip Curl Pipeline Masters on the island of Oahu to Hawaii, is declared victorious.

Man

  • Kelly Slater gained 8 championships of the world, which makes of him the man more titrated in the history of the championship of the world of Surf. With its title of 2006, it becomes at 34 years the oldest world champion, after having been youngest in 1992 (20 years). It is currently 1st classification 2006 and already gained the title because it has a great advance on its principal applicants.

Woman

  • Layne Beachley gained 7 championship of the world what makes of it the woman more titrated in the history of the championship of the world of Surf. With its title of 2006, it becomes at 33 years oldest of the world champions
