ASA Târgu Mureş (Asociaţia Sportivă has Armatei Târgu-Mureş) is a Rumanian club of Football based with Târgu Mureş.
Its best performance was a second place in the Rumanian championship. It took part in 3 Cut campaigns of UEFA, but it was eliminated in the 1st round with each of the 3 occasions: in 1975-1976 per Dresden Dynamo, 1976-1977 by Dinamo Zagreb and 1977-1978 by AEK Athens. The team had a better result in the Cut of Balkans in 1972-1973 when it reached the final one but lost against Lokomotiv Sofia.
After the fall of the Communist regime in 1989, the team fought between the first and the second Divisions of the Rumanian championship and, tragically for the supporters, it relegated in the third Division at the beginning of this decade.
Nowadays, the club tries to find the resources financial in order to be maintained. Sadly, the local authorities do not have any interest for football and do not wish to invest in the club. In 2006 the changed club is named him in Maris and is moved of Targu Mures in a close city. In spite to have a relatively well-organized center of youth, Maris is forced to sell the most promising talents in order to avoid closing its doors. The local authorities do not give any help to the team and the received assistance of the private sector is not enough for a reasonable service.
The most famous player who carried the shirt red-blue was László Bölöni, the former trainer of the teams Nancy, Stade of Rennes, Monaco and Sporting of Lisbon.
