ARK (group)

ARK is a group of Hard rock/heavy metal Swedish founded by John Macaluso, Tore Øtsby and Jorn Lande. Their music is connected more with progressive Rock however less thorough than the majority of the artists of this style. In round they are surrounded by Randy Coven and Mats Olausson. These musicians almost played all with the famous Swedish guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen. To date, the group does not exist any more, excel it singer Jorn Lande having made a turning on Beyond Twilight before forming a new group: Masterplan.

Biography

In 1990 was born ARK. This idea comes from two friends John Macaluso the beater of TNT and Tore Østby the guitarist of Conception, group in which officiated Roy Khan the current singer of Kamelot. The two groups repeated in the same room with Toten in Norway. After the departure of John Macaluso in 1992 of TNT the two musicians decide to assemble a project. After hard investigations they found their singer in the person of Jorn Lande which at the time sang in The Snakes (with Bernie Marsden and Mickey Moody). The members coming from groups playing of the Commercial Hard rock wanted to create something in any different point.

Their first album leaves in 1999 and receives a positive reception of the journalists of the whole world. The album is very varied and names ARK , on this one the musicians made amalgamate their influences. The production is of John Macaluso.

The group leaves in 2001 Burn The Sun recorded in Area 51 Studios and product by Tommy Newton. This album is an important step ahead for the group. The group accommodates two novel members, the bass player Randy Coven (Steve Vai, Steve Morse) and the keyboard Mats Olausson (Yngwie Malmsteen). The album is more direct than the precedent and corresponds better to the personality of the musicians like in their frame of mind.

The album contains various influences, in particular the Seventies whole while preserving a modern sound. The album sounds prog definitively even if it remains less complex than its predecessor. The group turns to Europe in 2001, with a small incident, 4 French dates are unfortunately cancelled. What is what the group became? Each one made its way on its side, Jorn left in Masterplan, Randy takes part in various projects like MCA, in company of John Macaluso, which leaves the album Ritual Factory in 2004. John lately turned with James LaBrie and taken part in Starbreaker which leaves an album in 2005. Mats Olausson took part in Evil masquerade during a time.
