AJEC

The AJEC is the acronym of Association of the Players of Failures by Correspondence this association is member of ICCF (International Correspondence Chess Federation). It is an association governed by the law of 1901. The purpose of it is to support and control the practice of the set of failures by correspondence in France.

History

The AJEC was founded in 1937 by Dr. Bos. It is the first French Association of the Players of Failures by Correspondence (AFEC) under the control of the FE of which it is a section (bulletin of the FE of Nov. 1938).

In 1945, Sirs Bos, Delannoy, Sutra, Swell and Bernstein, give fresh impulse to the Association which was renamed AJEC (the Association of the Players of Failures by Correspondence). In 1946 the AJEC takes part in the creation of the ICCA (International Correspondence Chess Association), which replaced IFSB.

In 1951, with the support of AJEC, the ICCA was transformed into ICCF (International Correspondence Chess Federation) and Mr. Balbo was the French representative.

In 1959, Dr. Bergraser became the first International Main French. In 1959 the AJEC had 908 members, 64 tournaments were organized whereas 380 players took share with the Coupe de France.

In 1966, to honor the memory with a late pioneer, AJEC organized the cut Evrard - Delannoy. With a total of 200 teams of 6 players each one, coming from 19 country (20 teams of France, 28 teams of the USSR and 50 teams of East Germany!) this tournament was certainly the first international tournament of this importance, with more than 1200 players.

In 1974, within the framework of XXIe Olympiad FIDE, the town of Nice received the meeting of presidium ICCF. The AJEC gathers nearly 1500 members and the number of French players in the international events increases. The AJEC was indicated to organize the second Latin Cut. The Mail Of the Failures (the review of association) obtains a world notoriety with 92 foreigners subscribed in 28 different countries.

In 1987, the AJEC is 50 years old and a tournament commemorative " The 50ème birthday of the tournoi" was organized with 326 players. the AJEC was honoured once again by the medal with money ICCF which was allotted to Bodis.

In 1998, the AJEC organizes the first tournament of Nostrum Pond to help the development of the failures by correspondence in the countries of the Mediterranean circumference.

To date 36 French players obtained an international title.

It was born in 1947, on January 1st and Mr. Sutra was editor association.

In 1963, AJEC is 18 years old and the Mail Of the Failures publishes its 100e number; in front of its growing success the CDE becomes monthly in 1967.
