History
Beginnings
The ACE Roma was founded the 22 July 1927. At that time the town of Rome counted already 5 clubs in the championship of Italy: Alba, Fortitudo, Pro Roma, Romance F.C and the Lazio. But the fascistic mode wanted the creation of a large Roman club , to allow the class workers to be identified with a club and consequently occasion to reinforce the image of Rome like capital. The executive team of Lazio refused any discussion and finally it is the fusion of the four other clubs which gave rise to the ACE Rome. The club evolved/moved at the beginning in the Motovelodromo Appio , then in the Testaccio and the Stadio Flaminio , for finally settling in the Stadio Olimpico in 1952 builds. The ACE Rome took part in its first championship of Series has in 1929. Vice-champion in 1931 and 1936 gained his first scudetto in 1942 (it will be necessary to await the second in 1983 and the third in 2001). The club was relegated in series B at the conclusion of the season 1951 but it went up directly in series At the following year.
The years “50 to 70”
After its return in the Series has in 1952, the Roman club was regularly in the top of the classification in spite of a second place in 1955. In 1960-61 arrival the first and single victory europenne: the UEFA Cup against the Birmingham City (2-2 and 2-0).But between 1963 and 1979 occurred one hollow period where the poor play of Roma did not enable him any more to play the first parts in championship. In spite of a third place acquired in 1975, the club fought in general against relegation. However arrive the victories in the Coupe of Italy of football in 1964 and 1969 and the semi-final in the Cuts of the cuts in 1970.
Return to the foreground
The arrival of talented players coincided with the return to the foreground of the club. Indeed Bruno Conti (world champion in 1982 with Italy), Agostino Di Bartolomei, Roberto Pruzzo and brilliant the Brazilian Falcão made it possible the club to reach the best classifications of its history. The Roman club was thus rewarded by the scudetto in 1983 (in front of the Juventus of Michel Platini) and by a final for Ligue for the Champions in 1984 (lost vis-a-vis the Liverpool FC with the penalties 3-5). The club was also vice-champion of Italy in 1984 and 1986 and third in 1988, before large the Milan AC of Marco van Basten and SC Naples of Diego Maradona do not take the orders of Series A. Arrivent also the victories in Coupe of Italy of football into 1980,1981,1984 and 1986.
Calm dish of the years “90”
The years “90” are remembered by an absence of placements of relief in Series has in spite of the presence of players world champions like Rudi Völler, Thomas Hässler, Thomas Berthold, Vincent Candela, Aldair or Cafú. The single victory it is in the Coupe of Italy of football in 1991 against the final Sampdoria Genoa more one lost face in Torino FC in 1993. Always in 1991 gagnè its third final europenne in UEFA Cup (lost face in Inter Milan 0-2 and 1-0).
2001, Romans at the top

In August 19th, 2001 gagnè it first Supercoupe of Italy against the AC Fiorentina (3-0).As from this moment, the ACE Roma does not release any more the first four places synonymous with Ligue of the Champions in company with the Juventus, the Milan AC and the Inter Milan. The season 2006 is marked by the Affaire of the faked matches of Calcio where the Juve and the Milan AC are blamed; that makes it possible the ACE Rome to find a place of vice-champion and to project " sereinement" over the season 2007. After a beautiful European campaign marked by the elimination of the Olympic Lyonese, Roma yields painfully in quarterfinals against Manchester United 7-1. In championship, in spite of a course of champion, the club finishes second, behind Inter, genuine machine to be gained in this season 2006-2007. But it is in Coupe of Italy, after two successive failures against the Inter Milan finally, that Roma takes its revenge while triumphing over these same interists graces to a victory 6-2 in Olimpico. Defeat 2-1 in San Siro will not make that to confirm the advantage taken to go it. Francesco Totti, true symbol of the club, will raise for the first time of its career the trophy on May 17th, 2007. Roma was also binding in Supercoupe of Italy (its second) 1-0 vis-a-vis these same interists.
