ABC Family

History

The chain was created in 1976 by Pat Robertson under the name of BN Cable before being renamed CBN Family Chanel. When Christian Broadcasting Network integrated the chain into International Family Entertainment (company directed by the son of Robertson), it was renamed Family Chanel.

The chain was sold in 1997 with the Fox Broadcasting Company and was then famous Fox Family Worldwide .

Fox Family had then, in addition to the principal chain looked by 84 million American home: Fox Kids Network, 76% of Fox Kids Europe and catalogs it Saban Entertainment Inc.

The July 23rd 2001, the chain was repurchased by ABC/Disney for 5,2 billion $ which re-elected it ABC Family the October 24th 2001. The subsidiary company Fox Kids Network was re-elected with the the United States ABC Kids Network the September 14th 2001 and was associated with Disney Channel. The européeene subsidiary company was it renamed Jetix.

But since 2005, in order to remove the lack of legibility between the programs youth of ABC and the chain ABC Kids, it was renamed Jetix, as the European branch. It diffuses primarily the old catalog of Saban made up of Japanese productions. Fox Kids Europe was simply re-elected in Jetix in 2004 for Europe and 2005 for the United States. It remains based with the Netherlands.
