  • Foundation in China of the Dynasty Song of North.
    • the general Zhao Kuangyin is proclaimed emperor of the North of China by its troops. It enters peacefully to Kaifeng where it founds the Song dynasty (fine in 1125).
    • Zhao Kuangyin will be based on the class of the well-read men confucéens ( jou ) among whom it will recruit his administrative staff.

Europe

  • Hugues Capet becomes Duc of the Francs. His/her brother Otton, Duke of Burgundy.
    • Hugues Capet, thus named because of the many capes of laic abbot that it holds, is duke of the Francs and theoretically Duc of Burgundy and Duc of Aquitaine. He is more powerful than the king Lothaire, tiny room to the fields of Attigny, Compiegne and Laon.
  • the Germanic margrave Gero (v. 900 - 965) form an important state enters the Elba and the Oder (at the origin of the State of Brandebourg) and inserts the Lusace and the Misnie in the Saint Empire.

Poland

  • Beginning of the reign of Mieszko Ier, duke of Poland (fine in 992).
    • Mieszko Ier, considered as the founder of the dynasty of the Piast goes down from princes Polane of Gniezno who had already linked vast territories (Large-Poland, Cujavie, Mazovie). It maintains the relations with the duke of the walk of Misnie (Saxony) and seems to have to lend oath to the emperor. He undertakes, perhaps with the support of Othon I {{er}}, a long war against Vélètes, Slavic of Poméranie. He annexes the Silesia (990) and the Petite Poland (992). He finds himself with the head of a vast State whose ethnic cohesion supports the birth of a national feeling.
  • the Jewish traveller of Spain Ibrahim Ibn Iaqûb visit the Poland.

Religion, art and culture

  • Foundation in Spain, with San Millán of Cogolla, close to the tomb of the hermit Millán, died in 574, of the monasteries of San Millán de Suso and San Millán de Yuso, where the first words in Castillan will be written (977).
  • Foundation of the Abbey of Westminster, in England, near a Sanctuaire of 616.
  • Saint Dunstan is named bishop of Canterbury.
