  • In China, the Khitan S found the dynasty of Liao and are established in the area of Beijing (Beijing).
    • January 25th: The khan Khitan Ye-liu Tö-kouang enters Kaifeng, plunders the city and returns to Beijing with the captive Chinese court.
    • Liu Chih-yüan, general of Turkish origin founds with Kaifeng the transitory dynasty of the posterior Han (Heou-Han, 947 - 950).

Africa

  • Ziri ibn Manad, over the tribes Sanhadja, triumphs for the Fatimides over the revolt over Abu Yazid, but the Berbères Zenâtas remain to them hostile and form screen between the Ifriqiya and the remainder of the Africa. Fatimides take again in hand the the Western Maghreb and a new activity develops on the routes of Sijilmassa towards the Ghana, giving to Fatimides gold necessary to the offensive which they prepare towards the East (969).
  • August: Abu Yazid, captured, dies of the wounds received with the combat. The caliph fatimide makes skin his corpse and stuff his cotton skin. This scarecrow is exhibé on a dromedary in the streets of Kairouan to celebrate the victory.
