93e regiment of artillery of mountain

The 93e regiment of artillery of mountain is created with Grenoble on January 1st, 1924. He is the heir to the alpine batteries and the 1st artillery regiment of mountain and is positioned with Varces, in the suburbs of Grenoble, with the district of Reyniès. The regiment comprises nearly 1500 men if one counts the 27ecompagnie command and of transmission of mountain and a detachment of the 7 {{E}} regiment of the material. This regiment is resulting from the 1 {{er}} and 293 {{E}} regiments of artillery of mountain, which defended the valleys at the 19th century. It is equipped today with guns of 155 mm model tractor drawn (155 TRF1) and with mortars of 120 Misters It will be equipped soon with guns CAESAR (horizon 2008).

Last artillery regiment of mountain of Europe, it has as a specificity to be capable to deploy its material in high mountain. The soldiers are in addition recognized for their inurement.

Member of the 27e brigade of infantry of mountain, it takes part with this one in the various maintenance missions of peace in the world. He takes part in the majority of the conflicts and the external operations led by the alpine division (then division of infantry of mountain which became then brigade of infantry of mountain).
