- March 24th: The Magyars (Hungarian) advance through the Burgundy and arrive in front of Sens.
- July 11th: Died of the king of Arles and of Burgundy Rodolphe II, his/her son Conrad III known as '' the Pacific '', succeeds to him, (end of the reign in 993).
- September 21st: Foundation of the monastery of Magdeburg (évêché in 955). At the same time, Magdeburg becomes capital Saint Germanic Roman Empire.

- After having triumphed in Brunanburh (site not identified) over its adversaries, whose Óláfr Kvaran, wire of Sigtryggr Scale, king of the Danelaw combined to the Scot, Aethelstan, king of the Wessex, proclaims king of all the Great Britain.
